  Decking

There are lots of projects you can do to make the most of your garden but you can really transform your outsude spaces with some well designed and nicely made decking. It's Ideal to give that inside outside feel to your home. Decking is great. For a play area for kids, entertaining, or simply relaxing you can't beat it.

Decking is relatively straightforward to install. Usually you will start with a timber frame to which the deck boards are screwd to. The frame is raised slightly from the ground on wooden posts which can be concreted into the earth to provide a solid support.
You can buy some decking products from your local timber merchant, but you may prefer to have your decking designed and supplied as a kit from a decking expert like arbordeck

You'll need to think about what type of deck boards to use. Soft wood is the cheapest. It comes pre-treated with a preservative. It usually has grooves in the surface to make it less slippy when wet, however special anti slip decking is also available.

Hardwood decking tends to be much more expensive but you do get that lovely hardwood look and it should have a much longer life if looked after.

Finally you might want to consider the newer composite deck boards which are made from powdered wood and special resins. They come in a range of styles and finishes. The benefit is that they are very hard wearing, won't rot, and are relatively maintenance free.
